The Garrick Netball League
The Garrick Netball was started more than 15 years ago. It began as a netball tournament run every year for schools in the Didcot partnership. Since then it has become a netball league with schools coming together to play High 5 netball matches. At the end of the playing season there is a tournament for the 4 top scoring teams. The winning team receives a trophy. The Garrick trophy was donated by a parent who ran the Garrick Theatre business that used to be in Didcot.
Winning teams from each match played please ensure that the results are sent to jlit2345@all-saints.oxon.sch.uk. The results and points will be posted on this page for all to see.

Rules
Teams will follow High 5 rules
- The umpire’s decision is final.
- Each team must consist of seven players. Schools may include a maximum of three boys per netball squad, but only 2 on court at any one time. This means that if there are 3 boys, one of the boys will have to be off for 2 quarters i.e. be scorer in the first quarter and timekeeper in the 4th quarter.
- No jewellery to be worn by players please.
- Matches will be 4 quarters of 6 minutes, with 2 minute break for Rotation.
- Teams will change shooting ends at the end of each quarter.
- Players need to stand in ‘Home positions’ at the start of each new centre.
- Teams will provide own umpire. (If you cannot provide an umpire, please make sure the other team can provide an umpire).
- Teams to organise own match fixtures
Please note: Defending the ball in a player's hand by outstretching the arms is not permitted. The player with the ball must be permitted an unimpeded throwing or shooting action. ONE JUMP to intercept a throw or shot at goal is permitted provided that the player is at least 1 metre away and that the arms are not outstretched prior to the jump. Jumping up and down in front of a player is not permitted.
Teams will play each other once. The 4 teams with the highest number of points will play in a semi-final and final.
A record of the points each school scores will be kept using the following points system:
- 5 points for a win
- 3 points for a draw
- 2 points for a high loss (half or more of the winners score)
- 1 point for a low loss (less than half of the winners score)
If a game is postponed by mutual agreement due to the weather or staff sickness then it should be rescheduled as soon as possible. If the same team cancels the same match on two occasions for reasons other than the above then their opponents will be awarded 5 points and the team who have cancelled the match will be awarded 1 point.
If a player is injured during the match then the Timekeeper/Scorer may replace the injured player and will need to stay with that rotation order. If the injured player can resume play in the next quarter, then he/she will follow the timekeeper’s/scorer’s rotation i.e. go on as centre next and continue in that rotation order. If only six players are fit to play then the timekeeper/scorer position should be “removed” from the rotation.
Any games not arranged or not played before Monday 25th March 2019 will score 1 point.
The semi-finals and final will be played on Thursday 4th April 2019 at either All Saints or South Moreton School 1:15pm start (please make sure you keep this date free in your diary).
