Phonics in Reception
We follow the Letters and Sounds Phonics programme. Every day children spend 15-20 minutes learning different sounds and how to apply them in their reading and writing. We work in small groups and learn through games and fun activities. We use ‘Jolly Phonics’ actions to help us recognise the letter shapes and the sounds they make. To find out more about our approach to phonics or to learn the sounds and actions along with your child please click on the links below. There are many websites offering games and activities that you and your child can do to support them at home.
